We received news early this morning that Ja Nonda's grandmother in California passed away. She had battled with sickness for such a long time. Over the last several days her body couldn't fight any longer.
Fern was a wonderful lady. I spent several special moments with her while we lived in Fallbrook, California. Many times she would show up at our apartment. It was about an 8 hour drive for her. She would share her stories and we would have our laughs. Right after
Ja Nonda had Jarred Grandma came to stay. She wanted to help
Ja Nonda take care of the new great-grandson while I went back to work. Jarred was just over a week and old and JaNonda was sick. Grandma took Jarred and cared for him over the next several nights while Ja Nonda could rest. I will never forget that week. It was a very needed, caring and thoughtful thing she did for us. I don't know what we would’ve done without her. She was so giving. She gave of herself and what she had to others. In the last years she was so excited about her new found faith and relationship with Jesus. Her excitement and expectation is now a reality. She will be missed here but welcomed at home. Miss you Grandma! Tell everyone we said “Hey!”

I'm really sorry for your loss. I'm sure she will be missed. Sounds to me like she set a standard for caring for others. I would have considered myself blessed to know her.
