I can't count how many times I've seen this rock while fishing and thought how wierd it was just sticking out of the water. This site is located just a mile or so from my boyhood home. Little did I know the rock is historical? I remember fishing with my dad and he telling me fishing was more than fishing. It is a time to think reflect and wonder. Here are some of my thoughts over the past several weeks.Often I try myself to contend with my own taste.
Are we keeping up, staying the same or blazing a trail?
Movements with an agenda are in danger of being broken when bent. Movements with flexibility are bent and not broken.
We have heard it, sung the song and probably even said, “When you need a friend lean on me.”How many people have said this? Spouses? Friends? Partners? Was it really meant when said? Can I write this as a voice for everyone? When we say, “You can lean on me” we fail to mention the unwritten rule. You must lean by my rules. If offering strength to lean means dictating how, then we can do without it.
Do we look at everyone as a project rather than a person? I have heard each person is a masterpiece. Give God the brush! Painting a masterpiece might not be your thing.
Are the people closest to you truly the mess you complain them to be? Do we miss the clear value in a person while trying to focus on the blurred faults? Love is supposed to cover a multitude of faults.
“Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime”—Author unknown. I do not believe this anymore. You can teach a person everything you know and without wisdom, it is only knowledge. We cannot just teach the mind while leaving the understandings of right and wrong empty.
When looking for a mentor, find one who understands the best and not the most.
Much involvement in your own stuff will cause you to neglect your truest friend.
Secretly, I commit my sins knowing God is there.
