Whew. The past couple of weeks have been wild! I’ve been on the radio, attended the Inaugural Party for the Governor of Virginia, interviewed for a production about church planting in Virginia, a guest speaker on the Virginia Connections “Live Webcast” and then last but not least the very first “Converging Your Faith 2006” Ladies Gathering with Jan Aldridge. The whole time JaNonda and I have been going to Gold’s Gym. Now I’m tired. I’ve had fun. I mean every bit was fun but I need some downtime. I think I need some time just to sit back and do a review.

Converging Your Faith 2006 was great! The week leading up to it took a lot of preparation. The final result was a weekend surrounded by excellence. The most outstanding part about it is that everyone pitched in and made it happen. Not one person wanted recognition. How great is that?

I know I haven’t been a Pastor for long but here are a few things I’ve learned.

. When it comes down to it you have to follow your heart and not the words in your ear.
. My idea of pastoring a church is different.
. Questions are good.
. My faith teaches me to embrace more than just church.
. Hold onto everything that is real, good and beautiful.
. I must lead change no matter the difficulty. No excuses. No hiding.
. People will ask for guidance but I can’t expect them to accept it.
. When I teach the bible most people take it as me and not God. It’s God.
. I must continue to push myself to the edge for something different.
. Do everything with as much excellence as possible.
. Do the right things, love mercy and walk humble with God.
. Everyone matters.
. Silence still speaks when used properly.
. Love

Never would I have thought that God could use me to produce change in people and culture. I say people because I don’t want to reduce myself to just reaching individuals. Why not reach people? The result is many hearts combined together instead of just one heart. A person can always make a difference when they make themselves vulnerable.

I love the journey that New Faith is on. I am excited to go away on vacation but I dont want to miss anything that God is doing at New Faith...It is like watching a great movie unfold....except I am in it!
