church-alienation?

In my last post I mentioned church-alienation? Not sure where that came from. So I googled it just now and I received about 142 responses. I gather that church-alienation includes many different people groups.

So what did I have in mind when I wrote church-alienation in my post? NEW FAITH believes there are many people that have had one or more experiences with God in their life. Then somewhere along the way that was erased by some other experience.

Why alienation? I think many people may feel alienated because their view of God may be slightly or greatly different than the norm. Think about these questions. How does the church present the Christ-like faith? Do people see faith as a value? Do people see church attendance as making a difference or a change agent in their life?

I would say at first probably not. Though how would they know if they don’t step-in and give it a try? Well maybe that is where the ambassadors come into play. Are we making a place for them to at least feel generally welcomed to step-in? I hear churches need to find a way to reach this generation. I really don’t think that churches had a way to reach the last generation either.

So what are we going to do now? It sounds like we need to engage culture and find a way to include instead of exclude people. I’m sure churches happy when they have a visitor or two? If we find a way to include everyone then maybe a church will have more than just one or two visitors. A church may find that it could add 3,000 in a single day.

I know it’s not about numbers. I hear that all the time. Come on then what are we trying to do. The book of ACTS recorded the thousands so why can’t we? Here is a thought. Let’s get people into the community first. Then leave the cleaning up to Jesus. Include everyone you can first. This could mean a total rework of our Sunday morning’s. Then I think God can do the rest. I think I see it happening. -chuck
