This was written to many of us by a NEW FAITH Associate (Ven) and I think it is worth posting. -chuck
Genesis 1:26a
Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.
The word “image” is defined as a likeness or reflection.
In simple terms, God has created us as a reflection of Him.
Pastor Chuck spoke about this on Sunday morning.
Our desires should be God’s desires. God’s desire is that we mirror Him as the face of God to other people.
The question I’m asking you now is this…
When people see you, what do they see? Do they see God’s love? Do they see God’s redemptive plan working through you?
OR
When people see you, do they see God’s uncaring hand? Do they see the hypocrisy that people have equated to “Christians”?
When we tell people of God’s love, and then in the same breath, tell them they’re going to hell because of the life they’re living, whose image do we portray?
New Faith is in the “business” of repainting the face of Christianity.
In other words, we know that Christians have skewed the image of God by their unwillingness to show the very same mercy that they themselves have been shown by God Himself.
Disguise it as “telling it like it is” or “being honest” all you want, it’s still a shame.
Does that sound fair? It reminds me of the parable Jesus told in Matthew 18:30.
A man was forgiven his debt by the King, but the man refused to forgive someone who owed him.
Long story short, the King found out and threw the unforgiving man into prison.
Think twice before you throw God’s judgment grenade around. Consider a little compassion instead of a lot of judgment.
After all, when people see you, they’re seeing God’s image.
The question is… what image do they see?
