ok so this is new for me. i'm really into technology but i've really tried to avoid being a blogger. so now that i am i'll try and avoid being a typical blogger. as you continue to read the things i blog and get to know more about me you'll pick-up on one thing. i'm not typical.
today was a pretty great day for me. last night i worked until about 2am. so i tried to take it pretty easy. though, i just can't seem to get some things out of my head. as a pastor for an engaging christian fellowship i've really tried to change my thoughts about church, Jesus, my life and everything around me. there is much more happening around us than we realize.
the places we pass by, the moments that occur and our thoughts contain so much more than we may realize. the lady at the well paused for a moment and found Jesus waiting for her. moses may have passed by that bush several times until one day he realized there was something different about it. peter must have met several people on the docks where he tied-up that boat but one day he slowed down and met someone that changed his life forever.
to me each person i mentioned engaged the culture around them. i want to engage! i need to pause, realize and slow down to see someone in the unexpected times and unexpected places. i know it can happen! it can happen to me. it can happen to you! we can become an icon in our culture like rosa parks, martin luther king, jr., elvis presley and john f kennedy. each became an icon because something happened in an unexpected time and place.
these are my thoughts for the day. you may ask do you always think about things like this. what about the movies, sports or just common everyday things. answer: yes sometimes but most of the time i'm consumed with just trying to make a difference. i feel it's my turn, time and responsibility.
thanks. chuck

Strong words my friend. It's good to hear you took some time off. I worry about you doing too much. As Rob Bell says, it's time to take SuperPastor out back and put him down. The SuperPastor days are gone. Let them stay gone. Engage is such a powerful word. If you think about it's usage in TV & movies, it really takes on a whole new meaning. Engage could mean holding on tightly or taking off at warp speed. Weird huh?
you didn't really keep EVERYTHING lowercase, Chuck. :) I noticed.
Yes, it's my turn, time and responsibility, too. Wish more people in the world felt that way. Don't forget to take care of you, though. Without your health, you can't help anyone. A lesson easier said than done for me, too.
